3 reasons why many security companies lack quality in service.
- Many security companies spend most of their profits on advertising. While at face value from a business perspective this may appear to be a good idea but what ends up happening is that they must make budget cuts elsewhere. Companies will spend upwards of 100's of thousands of dollars on full page phone book ads, high price magazine ads and other very pricey advertisements. Then they will scale back their guards salaries down to almost minimum wage, eliminate drug testing, background checks, training, equipment, uniforms and the list goes on and on. Ask yourself what happens if a company is cutting all their cost on personnel and the associated cost needed to offer quality service. As you already know quality of service is out the door.
Now you may ask “What are we doing different?”
We don’t waste our budget on expensive advertising tactics. We keep our over head low so we may put aside more of our budget into employing experienced quality security professionals, pre-employment/random drug tests, training, higher pay rates for our officers, necessary equipment and all that is needed to hire and retain the highest quality security professionals.
- Many companies will bite off more than they can chew. Nevada is always in very high demand for security officers. Many of our competitors will take any and every contract offered to them. Then they find themselves overburdened with too many clients and not enough staff. Therefore they are required to hire anyone that walks in the door disregarding any hiring standards. Very often clients are not even receiving actual employees from the security company but a subcontracted guard from a temporary staffing services. I’ve heard it said many time in the security industry “if he has a pulse he hired”.
How are we different?
Our business in founded on providing the best service in the industry. Unfortunately sometimes we cannot offer our services to everyone. If we are lacking the staff to properly service a client we will refer them to another security service that we feel is suitable for their needs. We feel it is best to turn down a client then resort to giving second class service to anyone. We depend on our good name.
- Companies too big to care.
International and National companies tend to be too large to care. These companies may have 100's of thousands of clients around the world. Losing one client or providing second class service to thousands makes no difference to them. To them its just a “drop in the bucket”. We are large enough to do the job but small enough to care.
